We have an official scheduled date for thespeedgamers.com fund raising efforts! On May 15th-18th they will be having a Mother/Earthbound Marathon to help me raise funds for my Breast Cancer 3-Day efforts.

They just wrapped up their fund raising event for Ally’s House and raised $6,200 in 72 hours! I’m really excited about this opportunity. If you want more information, check them out at www.thespeedgamers.com

You can also still donate right now by clicking DONATE NOW here or on the side of the page.

Update on the $10 Fundraising.

March 15th, 2009 | Posted by john in General - (Comments Off on Update on the $10 Fundraising.)

So we are two weeks into the challenge and here’s where we stand:

I’ve had several people donate and we are now up to $865! We’re making the way there, but I still need donations if I am going to reach the $2300 mark by the end of March!! If you can donate $10 or more it would be HUGELY appreciated! As an added incentive, if I reach $2300 by the end of March, I will WEAR A BIG PINK BRA the entire first day of the walk! Just think, a simple matter of $10 or more can not only help in the fight against breast cancer, it can help you get to see me walk around in a big pink bra.

Maybe you’re thinking, “John, I’d really like to see you shave your head and then see you walk around with a big pink bra on, but I have already donated. How can I make sure these things happen?” It’s simple, just send this e-mail on to everyone you know that might donate and see if they can help in the cause. The more people that see this and donate, the closer we get! So please donate and forward this to friends and family! Again, the link is:

Now I would like to take a second to send out a BIG thanks to all the people have contributed so far. I’m going to list them here (if they chose to be anonymous on the web site, I will not mention them by name, but know that I am extremely grateful for all the donations). Here they are:

Erin Ostenson
Steven Bruno
John Davis
Taryn Sikorski
Douglas Byrd
Kevin and Georgina Brown
Dale Chiapuzio
Joe Seran
George Chongris
Dani Shrader & Rich Fox
Elizabeth Harper Pfeiffer
F. David Simonds
Brian Czajkowski
Stacy and Blake Rudolph
Andy Asava
Holly Wright

Thank you all for your help! I’ll send out another update next week when we are one week away!

New Fundraising Effort

February 28th, 2009 | Posted by john in General - (Comments Off on New Fundraising Effort)

I sent out an e-mail (and Facebook item) to about 250 people today asking them to donate $10 each and that would get me past the $2300 mark that I have to meet. I also said that if I raise $2300 by the end of March that I would shave my head! So far I have had some results! Today I raised $80, thanks to donations from:

Andy Asava
George Chongris
Joe Seran

Thanks for your support guys! Let’s see if we can get to $2300 by the end of March!

Team Captain Kit Arrived

February 15th, 2009 | Posted by john in General - (Comments Off on Team Captain Kit Arrived)

I got my team captain kit last week for the 3-Day. After looking through the stuff, I would really like to get some more people to join our team. The more people that sign up, the more people we can have in the fight against breast cancer. If you think you might be interested, but have questions please contact me and I would be more than happy to talk to you about it. Just click contact on the right. If you know that you would like to join, please do so at: http://www.the3day.org/goto/booty

New Fundraising Opportunity!

February 11th, 2009 | Posted by john in General - (Comments Off on New Fundraising Opportunity!)

The Speed Gamers have generously agreed to do a fundraiser to help with my 3-Day goal. Here’s a little about who they are:

TheSpeedGamers do gaming marathons to raise money for various charities. In total they have raised OVER $15,000 dollars. They are based in the DFW area of Texas and have done fund raisers for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Giggles Therapy, Lupus Foundation of America, and ACT Today (for autism care and treatment). Basically what they do is take a video game and they play it non stop for 72 hours, trying to beat it. During this time they broadcast live feeds of the game and the people playing the game and viewers make donations to the cause they are playing for.

I don’t have any details for when this event will be, but as soon as I do, I will post them. In the meantime, check them out and some of the other events they have had in the past: http://www.thespeedgamers.com

More to come soon!
